How does this happen? A business at my age?
I have come full circle. God gave me a gift. I knew it. He knew it. I never thought of it as something I could really make a living at until someone pointed out that he gave me a gift so that I could have the Lord's provision in my life. I had drifted away from the graphic arts field and my skills were behind. It was too late in life and too expensive to go back to school. The last few years I was trying on all kinds of new hats in the working world. I tried a small ladies boutique that eventually closed down. I tried a fast paced office job that was way too stressful. I worked seasonally for a Medicare Open Enrollment. I really liked that one and would have continued to do it except for cancer treatments cut that off. I even thought about becoming a bus/tour driver at one point. God kept leading me back to my art as a provision. A friend talked me into taking refresher classes in my first love of oil painting. I started to develop a style, a pattern that was uniquely mine. People were enjoying seeing my posts and asking when and where they could buy my paintings. It was then that I joined a art business mentoring group called Matt Tommey Mentoring. The group has been amazing bringing me through this transition from hobbyist to business woman. Getting my heart aligned to co-create with God, I have seen my skills develop and my paintings get better each time I'm in the studio. And, what fun I'm having! It feels great to be using my gift and I'm where I should be.
